Cross Country

Our students take part in the school Cross Country trials to select the participants for the District Championships which are held in Cooktown. The children that perform well in events then have the opportunity of being selected for the district team which competes in the Regional Championships in Cairns.

Small Schools Sports Carnival

Bloomfield River School hosts the annual Small Schools Sports.  Schools from the local cluster take part in this two day athletic's carnival which includes track, field and ball game events.  Participating schools include Rossville, Laura, Lakeland, Coen as well as some distance education students.

The idea and purpose of these sports is to let all the children 'have a go'.

This event is well supported by parents and community members from all schools.

Cooktown District Sports

The successful athletes from the Small School Sports are chosen to represnt our school
at the District Sports in Cooktown.

AFL Auskick

The AFL Auskick team has visited our school on several occasions to conduct training sessions.  The national coaching program is designed to teach primary school children
how to play the game of AFL.  The main emphasis is to create an enjoyable and safe environment for children to learn basic movement and ball skills through a range of
organised games and activities.
