Weary Bay Beach

Viv's Cafe

Weary Bay beach is north of Viv's Cafe. At Weary Bay Beach you can go beach combing, walking and dig for pippies.  Watch out for crocodiles on the beach.  Also down the south end is the river mouth and up the north end is Rattlesnake Point.  You can go fishing and you can relax in the shade.  It is also good to take photos of the mouth and Rattlesnake Point.

The Bloomfield Airstrip is on the main road about 10 minutes drive north of Ayton.  Planes come from Cairns every day and when you jump off the plane you can take photos of the tank. People from the lodge fly in the plane to the Bloomfield Airstrip.  At the lodge you can eat and you can go for a river cruise on the Bloomfield lodge boat.  Camelia

Viv's Cafe is near Ayton.  At Viv's they sell hamburgers, chips, drinks, chicken and chips and cups of tea.  At Viv's you can relax. You can talk to the locals.  At Viv's you can look at the history of the old days in Bloomfield.  There are toilets provided for people that go there and every second Saturday there is a market there.

Ayton Library   Ayton Store Bloomfield River State School

The Ayton store opens at 8:30 am.  The Ayton store is a small shop on the right hand side of the road in Ayton.  Lots of people buy food and drinks from the store.  There is a cafe and it is open from 10am to 2pm.  The cafe is called the Croc and Barra Cafe.   You can buy takeaway food or eat there and they sell chips and chicken, thick shakes and milkshakes.  There are seats to sit on and there is shade for people to sit under.    Romana

The Ayton Library is next to the Ayton store and it is on the left hand side of Ayton.  It is not a big library and is just right to enjoy your reading and it is for everyone to go there to read.  It is open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 9am to 12pm and from 2:30pm to 5pm.

Bloomfield River State School is not far from Ayton.  It's also not far from the community.    It's a little school with 87 kids.  There are five classes and the school is lucky to have  an activity room, computer room and library.  At our school we have literacy lessons every morning.   If you come to school every day you will get a gold pass but if you have below 85% attendance you haven't  got a gold  pass.

Davis' Hill  Bloomfield River Causeway Wujal Wujal Community
The Bloomfield Causeway is there so you can go to Cairns which is on the south side of the river.  On the North side is Wujal.  It is good fishing there.  You can take photos.  Also the Bloomfield Falls is next to the causeway.  It's in Wujal.  Lots of people go there.  Lots of people cross the causeway.  When it is high tide you have to wait until 3 blocks are showing or your car  will get salt water all over it.  Don't go swimming at the causeway because there are crocodiles.  You can go spearing for fish there too.               Roderick & Shariel

Davis' Hill is up top of the horse crossing.     You can take photos of the boats coming up the river, the Bloomfield  Inn and the Wujal Wujal wharf.  You can see the Bloomfield River, it goes to the Bloomfield School.  You can see the people at the horse crossing from on top of the hill and you can go fishing with your boat down  Davis hill.

T he Wujal community is just after the crossing when you come from Cairns.  You can buy some food from the Wujal store and you can go fishing at the banana wharf and there is a library where you can borrow books and videos.  You can go to the Bloomfield falls .You can go down to the hall where you can play soccer, basketball and football. Most of the aboriginal people from Bloomfield live thereP.J.

The Wujal Store is in the middle of the Wujal community.  At the store you can buy groceries, clothes and food to eat.  It is just like a little supermarket.  All the people from Wujal and the rest of Bloomfield go there to do their shopping.   Soraya
Wujal Library has lots of books also it has information about the history of the Aboriginal people who used to live in Bloomfield .The Wujal library is near the garage. The librarians are Sonya and Talita. The people who can borrow books are the people who live in Ayton and Wujal. The Wujal library is in an old hall next to the shop. The Library opens between 8.00am to 12.00pm then from 1.00pm to 5.00pm.      Shariel

The garage is near the shop and the office in Wujal.  you can take your car to the garage and fix it.  You can take your care there every day.  You can fill your car up with fuel.  If your bike or car has a flat tyre you can get it fixed at the garage.         Stafford
Bloomfield River Mouth   Main Wharf The Bloomfield Lodge
The main wharf is near Ayton. It is not far from the river mouth.  You can go fishing and you can put your boat in from there.  You can go for a walk and you can watch the big ships go past.  You can see the mountains around the river and the Bloomfield River mouth.  I think it's a good place to look out for crocodiles and the fishing is good there too.   Gernita
The river mouth is where the Bloomfield river runs down to Weary Bay Beach. It is down from the beach road. From the river mouth you can see the main wharf and you can see the lodge. It's a good place to go fishing or camping.    Ephraim 
The Lodge is near the south end of Weary Bay. The Lodge is a good place for accommodation.   You get to the Lodge by boat. The boat comes and picks you up then takes you out to sea and around the sand flat and through the buoys and you're at the Lodge.   At the Lodge you can stay the night and relax. You can go on river cruises and bush walks. At the Lodge you can go sightseeing and you get a very clear view of the ocean.      Ruby and Talara
